Considering the waves of insecurity around the State and its environs, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, Commandant Niyi Liad Ajibola, has approved the deployment of its workforce numbering 2,177 across its formations: State Headquarters; Area Commands; Divisional Commands amongst others and alongside other services in the State to beef up security in and around the State before, during and after the celebrations.

According to a press statement signed by the State spokesman, Dyke Ogbonnaya who noted that the State Commandant who had just resumed office as the new State Commandant, said “The Corps will continue to improve and sustain the aspirations of the NSCDC Corps Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi ( PhD, mni), with the sole aim of ensuring a people-centred security across the country.

The desires and aspirations of the Corps helmsman is to improve the welfare and security of the Nigerian people especially with solid collaboration and professional relationship with other sister security agencies”.

The State Command’s deployment will include the strategic placement and deployment of its: Counter-Terrorist Unit; the Special Female Squad; the Radio/Communication Unit for prompt attendance to distress calls across the State; the Disaster Management Department; the Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear Explosive Unit; the State Command’s Armed Squad; the State Command’s Intelligence and Investigations Team amongst others.

Commandant Ajibola while addressing the State Command’s Management Team at his maiden speech held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, noted that “The Corps in Ogun State will sustain and improve on the goodwill of the State Government for all security agencies while also ensuring that the dreams and purposes of the Corps Commandant General for a crime-free Nigeria is apparently assured” he intoned.

Meanwhile, he added that the entire officers and men of the Corps in the State Command’s formations will need to put up a more security and professional relationship both with the public and the other security agencies in the State in order to achieve this dream.

He went further to appreciate the members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, the Press, for the good job they have been doing to make the country a better place while promising to improve the narrative between the Corps and the press as a new State Commandant as no nation could achieve much without the support, monitoring and supervisory roles of the press across board.

Moreover, he urged the officers and men of the Corps to maintain absolute respect and confidence in the activities of other security agencies in the interest of the nation and security of the Gateway State.

More importantly, he has directed that the deployment of officers and men to all critical national assets and infrastructure; all market places; all praying centres; amongst other government structures in the State be adequately ensured and actualised.

He noted that the activities of the Corps should be driven in unison across her formations in the State and that this should be done with the interest in the fact that the lives of every Nigerian and their property is well guarded with all sense of responsibility and purpose.

He promised to work assiduously with all sister security agencies in the State for the protection and provision of adequate security in and around the State.

While ending his brief, he urged the Muslim brothers and sisters to celebrate in moderation and to also report all threats to the nearest security agency in their locations.

He also added that “This celebration should be a lesson to us all and a pointer to the uniqueness, communal love and commitment on the part of the celebrants especially in the interest of others through selfless givings and concerns”.
