Police nab two notorious robbers, others arrested.

Two robbers who were said to have snatched the bag of a lady as well as her phone have been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command while fleeing the scene of the robbery, the command announced on its X handle on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

The names of the two men were given as Praise Ebube, aged 25 years, said to be a phone accessories seller in Obalende, Lagos, and Ogbonna Michael, aged 21 years, said to be a factory worker at Billings Way, Oregun.

 

                                     The suspects

They were arrested on Tuesday evening at about 8:30 p.m. by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while on night patrol who responded to a distress call that some persons had snatched a lady’s phone and handbag.
It was gathered that following the information received, the RRS operatives pursued them while fleeing the scene and succeeded in catching up with them which led to their arrest. The snatched phone and handbag were recovered from them.

According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday, during their interrogation, they were said to have confessed carrying out the act.
Also, another victim (name withheld) was said to have identified one of the robbers, Praise Ebube, as the person that robbed him of a mobile phone worth N105,000 at knifepoint in the same area recently.

The command added that they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.

Police arrest three suspected cable thieves in Ojodu area of Lagos

Lagos Police spokeperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on his verified X handle @benHundeyin on Wednesday.

He identified the suspects as: Babatunde Murutu, Segun Lawal and Adebayo Iyanu.
Hundeyin said that the police arrested the trio during a stop and search operation.

“At about 3:20a.m., officers of Ojodu Division on midnight patrol stopped the three men to search the contents of their bags.

“They found cables, screwdrivers and scissors.
“Further interrogation and investigation revealed that they had just stolen the cables from a building in the neighborhood, ” he said.
According to the image maker, the suspects are to be arraigned at the conclusion of investigation.

 

Police arrest two suspects allegedly buying, selling hard drugs.

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 67-year-old drug dealer, Orji Isaac, while selling drugs to a 22-year-old man, Lekan Ganiyu.

The command confirmed the arrest in a post it shared on its X handle @LagosPoliceNG on Wednesday. It stated that its operatives arrested the suspects in the Yaba area of the state.

“Police officers of Sabo Division, while embarking on surveillance patrol busted a drug dealer, Isaac, while selling drugs to Ganiyu.“The duo will be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations,” it stated.

The command appealed to the public to always say ‘No to drugs’.
