2023 Election: Atiku picks Wike as running mate.
Governor Nyesom Wike has emerged the 2023 Vice Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
According to reports gathered, Wike was selected to be the running mate of the Party’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The decision was reached after a closed door meeting by a committee setup to oversee the selection process on Tuesday.
The Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa was also considered for the position but several ranking members of the party opted for Wike.
The Rivers state Governor made headlines after he emerged second in the Party’s Presidential Primaries.
It was widely rumored that he would have won the exercise if not for the decision by fellow aspirant and Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Tambuwal to step down for Atiku.
