Clergyman Blasts Gov. Akeredolu For Neglecting Riverine Communities In Ondo State.

A clergyman, Rev.  Dr. S. Obateru has taken a swipe at the governor of Ondo State, Mr.  Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for completely neglecting the Riverine communities in the state.

Rev. Obateru who lashed out at the governor over the weekend at the funeral service of late Chief Mrs. Victoria Tanimowo Torhukerhijo in Ore-Ofe Baptist church, Mahintedo in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state called on the governor to include the riverine communities in his development agenda.

The clergyman who is the Conference President, Ondo State Baptist conference, maintained that the riverine communities qualified Ondo state to be among the oil-bearing states which receive additional 13% derivation revenue from the Federal government and wondered why the communities are completely excluded from developmental projects of the state.

He charged the governor to do the right thing and ensure that the riverine communities are not left out in the scheme of things in the state.

“We need light. Tell the governor that we are not happy with him. we are part of the state and should not be forgotten. Hon. Success, we voted for you to represent us at the House, you are not representing us well,” he stated.

The fiery clergyman who eulogized late Mrs. Victoria for dedicating her life to the service of God and humanity called on those in government to remember that there is a day of reckoning when everyman will stand before the Lord and give an account of their stewardship on earth and as such should mend their ways and serve God and humanity faithfully.

THE TORCH NEWS MEDIA reports that Arogbo, Mahintedo and Okitipupa communities all in Eso-Odo constituency of Ondo state are in dire need of government presence to improve the quality of lives of the people in the area.

A resident at Okitipupa who would prefer to be anonymous told our correspondent that the community has not had electricity in the last 15 years except for those who can afford a generating set. He he belongs to APC, but he wont vote for APC in the forth coming elections because APC has failed in the state.

“The roads around this community was constructed by the late former governor Olusegun Agagu and since then, we have not had any government presence. Since the last 15years, we have not had electricity except for some persons who can afford  generators. This present governor is the worst of all the governors we have seen.

Most of the government workers now receive half of their salaries and this is affecting everybody in the state. I’m in APC but if there is another election today, I will never vote for APC again likewise most people in this community, “he added.
