NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE (NCS) KWARA COMMAND REMITS N6BN INTO FG’s COFFERS IN 2020.

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kwara State Area Command has stated that it was able to generate revenue in excess of N6 billion last year into the Federal Government’s purse despite the devastating COVID-19 pandemics.

The command made it known  that in less than two years of its creation, it has remitted money in excess of N9 billion into federal government coffers.

President Mohammadu Buhari’s government, returned the Area command status to Kwara state after it was moved to Niger State by former military ruler, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.

Kwara State Command was created on May 21st, 2019 during the 50th regular meeting of Nigeria Customs Service Board.

 Staggering out its scorecard in the 2020, The Area, Comptroller Ahmed Hussaini Bello,  stated that he set out early enough to achieve targets.

Set up with a core function of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and trade facilitation, the command has one approved border station at Chikanda, which engages in border security.

Showing a breakdown and further analysis of the revenue haul, the Comptroller said that total money realised last year was N6, 906,416,022.11 between the months of January to December, 2020.

According to him, “This represents 86 per cent of the year’s annual target,” But he added that it was better than 2019 hurl, which was N2, 404,318,043.00.

From the above record, it shows that there was an addition of Four Billion Five Hundred and Two Million Ninety Seven Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventy Nine Naira Eleven Kobo (N 4,502,097,979.11) in the year 2020 compared to what was generated in the year 2019,”.
