Breaking News: DPO, five policemen, two policewomen, one civilian shot dead in Kogi bank robbery

     There has been a robbery attack today, the 4th of June 2020 at First bank in the town of Isanlu, Yagba East local government area of Kogi state.

      The robbers who were about 8 in number and all of them wearing black masks began shooting sporadically around 4:30pm, the police officer on duty was shot and killed immediately.

The robbers proceeded to break the entrance into bank.

    The Divisional police officer of Yagba East local government area was also shot dead with 7 other police officers as they made attempt to stop the armed robbers.

The robbers escaped but as at the time of this report, efforts are being made to catch up with them. No one can say for now how much they were able to cat away with.

     As the gunmen stormed the bank premises in two vehicles and killed the security personnel in front of the gate before entering the bank. The source added that the gunmen killed several persons, which include bank officials, customers and more security personnel.

He further disclosed that the armed men stormed the Divisional Police Headquarters in the town and killed several police operatives as well and made away with weapons that belong to the operatives.

According to the State Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP William Ayah, said that he would not be able to give details of the incident, as he has not been able to reach the DPO and other officers of the division, but he added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation has been deployed to assess the issue over there.

“Attacks on a bank and police formation was reported by civilians but I can’t give you details because the DPO on ground cannot be reached yet but the Deputy Commissioner of Police is on his way to assess the situation.

   Details of the incident, as he has not been able to reach the DPO and other officers of the division, but he added that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operation has been deployed to assess the issue over there.
